Sandeep Kartar Singh
Sandeep Kartar Singh is an Indian actor, filmmaker, and theatre director known for his work across stage and cinema. He is the founder of Joker Theatre Group, a non-profit ensemble dedicated to actor training and socially engaged performance. Born into a lineage of folk artists, Singh began performing at the age of five, portraying Lord Krishna alongside his grandfather Kantu Singh of the Sankarpuriya Natak Mandli. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Delhi and a Bachelor of Education from Chaudhary Charan Singh University. Singh has performed in a wide repertoire of classical, modern, and experimental theatre productions and has represented Indian cultural heritage on international stages through large-scale productions such as Dastan-e-Ram and Life and Legends of Lord Krishna. He made his Hindi film lead debut in Takila. His performance in God Must Die earned multiple international honors, including Best Actor at the World Film Festival Cannes 2024 and Best Actor at HIFF - HALO International Film Festival 2025. He is a certified drama artist with All India Radio and a recipient of the Junior Fellowship Award from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India (2011). Beyond acting, Singh has co-directed feature films including Takila, Majaz - A Life in Poetry, and God Must Die. He is also associated with the Pangea Film Festival, contributing to international film networking and cross-cultural cinematic exchange. His upcoming film projects include India Wins Freedom, Crime and Punishment, Kabarbijju, Bhai Miya Patangbaaz, and Bazooka.
