In 1974, Cho Yeon-ho, a young Korean nurse sent to West Germany, arrives in Leverkusen and begins a life far from home. There she meets Charlotte Ballus, an elderly German woman shaped by war and its aftermath. Over more than twenty years, Yeon-ho cares for Ballus, and their relationship grows into one marked by trust, dependence, and responsibility. When Ballus names Yeon-ho her sole heir, traces of hierarchy and unspoken prejudice surface beneath their intimacy. The Quiet Inheritance explores care, inheritance, and the fragile ethics of a relationship shaped by affection and imbalance.
